The Iowa Aviation Promotion Group (Fly Iowa) was founded in 1998 by the Iowa Department of Transportation Aviation Office and the Iowa Public Airports Association. Its original purpose was to recruit, select, and supervise airport sites to host annual Fly Iowa Air Fairs. The group has since broadened its mission to grow general aviation activity, participation, knowledge, and appreciation within the State of Iowa. It is recognized as a 501c(3) not-for-profit entity.
